Crimson Spell - Manga Review

Status: ongoing (5 volumes)

So this review is about a rather well known and popular manga, Crimson Spell by Ayano Yamane!
I have read this one a few times as it's a personal favorite, but now that the 5th volume is out as well why not do a review on it.
My overall impression of Crimson Spell is very good. I found it rather shallow and slow at the start, the first volume orso, but once you get to know the characters it becomes very intense and exciting!
Needless to say, Ayano Yamane is an excellent writer and this story proves that as well.

Story

So the story starts with a man, Valdrigue, that has a curse on him ever since he used a cursed sword. He looks up a sorcerer, Hallwill, to help him break the curse. They start a journey together to try and break the curse, while Hallwill tries to tame the beast that Val turns into.

This is a fantasy story with lots of intrigue and fighting. The story isn't too hard to follow and it gets real deep and complex, which i like a lot. It also moves along at a good pace, and new information is being revealed the whole time so it doesn't get boring You just want to keep on reading to learn more. I also think the characters get a lot of personal development, which is very nice and that also adds to the story. There is some humor in it as well, with your typical funny faces which are adorable:

I normally don't go for fantasy, but this story really pulls you in. This is definatly worth reading if you're a fan of the more explicit yaoi.

BL Content

Okay now for the BL content, this is definatly very explicit. If you are used to shounen ai, or some censure, you might not be expecting this. If you are a fan of yaoi and BL, you are in for a treat!
There are a lot of juicy scenes. There's not only 'action' in it, but plenty of feelings as well. So if you don't like to watch yaoi without feelings being involved you have nothing to worry about, they keep growing towards each other the deeper the story gets.
As far as BL content goes, this will not dissappoint you!

Art

For me the art is always very important, and ofcourse art is subjective; so what i like might not be what you like. That being said, it's a well known fact that Ayano Yamanes art is very popular and amazing. I love her art, and even her details and every single panel is drawn beautifully. I adore the way she draws Hallwill and his hair. And the way she draws Val when he is fighting is very hot as well.

Score

Story: ★★★★⭐
Art:  ★★★★★
Amount of Yaoi :  ★★★★★
Hotness of Yaoi:  ★★★★⭐

Since it's one of my favorites i have nothing bad to say about this one. I would recommend this to every BL fan out there, even if you are normally not into fantasy like me. Definatly worth reading!

Love Stage!! - Manga Review

Status: ongoing (3 volumes)

So let's get the ball rolling with my first review!
I read Love Stage!! yesterday and my overall impression was that it was definatly fun to read. Okay it gets a bit cheesy here and there, and maybe the storyline is somewhat predictable but that didn't bother me at all. So let's get into it shall we:

Story

So the story starts with about a famous, awesome actor that fell in love with a girl he acted with when he was a child. What he didn't know was that this girl was actually a boy called Izumi, that had to fill in as a girl at the last minute. The famous actor, Ryouma, confesses to the ''girl'' 10 years later, at which point he learns that Izumi is actually a boy, and a really dull otaku at that.

That is basically the intro, and after this the story unfolds. The main theme here was mostly ''oh no i can't fall in love with guy" and the denial of Izumis feelings. I really liked the story, it moved along at a good pace and there was a lot of humor in it which i always enjoy. The story wasn't really deep and was your typical i-can't-fall-in-love-with-another-guy theme, but that didn't make it less fun.
Definatly worth reading if you are into the mood for a light, funny yaoi manga.

BL Content

As for the BL content, you do get some intense scenes. Not very many, but there are some spicy shots in there. There are some kisses in there and some naked action as well.

Art

For me the art is always very important, and ofcourse art is subjective; so what i like might not be what you like. I liked the art in this one, especially Ryouma when he is drawn as a cool guy. The art isn't really ''mature'' and reminds more of a Shojo manga, which isn't bad at all if you like that sort of style. At any rate, the art was very pretty and everything was well drawn.

Score

Story: ★★★⭐⭐
Art:  ★★★★⭐
Amount of Yaoi :  ★★⭐⭐⭐
Hotness of Yaoi:  ★★★⭐⭐

Definatly worth reading once, since it's rather funny and has some juicy scenes.
